Short-scale Comfort and Flexible Pickups
The Fender Mustang Bass PJ combines the hard-hitting tone of a Precision Bass with the unmistakable growl of a Jazz Bass. Its smaller Mustang-style body and short scale make this electric bass extremely comfortable, even for players with small hands. Seriously - once you wrap your hand around this bass guitar's smooth-playing C-shaped maple neck, you'll have a hard time putting it down. This bass's short scale also imbues every note you play with a fat, harmonic richness that's impossible to ignore. Combining classic and modern styling, the Fender Mustang Bass PJ features vintage-style tuners, a 4-bolt neck plate, and 4-saddle bridge - all finished in shimmering chrome.

Fender Mustang Bass PJ at a Glance:
Precision Bass pickup delivers the driving sound of rock and metal
Jazz Bass pickup for growling midrange tone
Short scale length for great tone and increased playability
Precision Bass pickup delivers the driving sound of rock and metal
When you think of fat, meaty, and hard-hitting bass lines, you're probably thinking about the sound of a Fender Precision Bass. Thanks to its traditional split single-coil P Bass pickup, you can count on the Mustang Bass PJ to pump out dynamically intense and deeply satisfying bass tone. Whether you play with a pick or your fingers, you'll be impressed by the clear sound and serious sonic impact of your Mustang Bass PJ.

Jazz Bass pickup for growling midrange tone
With a Jazz Bass single-coil pickup at the bridge position, the Fender Mustang Bass PJ packs a powerful midrange punch. The bassists here at Sweetwater use it to add hair to the sound of the P Bass pickup or for classic Jazz Bass growl on its own.

Short scale length for great tone and increased playability
Of course the short scale length of the Fender Mustang Bass PJ's neck makes it easier to navigate the fretboard and is perfect for beginners and players with smaller hands. Short scale basses have a different tonal character because shorter string lengths give you a thicker, mellower tone than a long scale instrument. Just plug the Mustang Bass PJ into your bass amp, and you'll see what we mean, as notes come alive and cut through the mix without becoming overbearing.

Fender Mustang Bass PJ Features:
Electric bass with the classic Mustang body style and a versatile pair of pickups
Create iconic rock tone with the split-coil P Bass pickup
Rich, growling tone from the J Bass single-coil pickup
Fine-tune your sound with individual volume controls for each pickup
Short scale length creates great tone and increased playability
Smooth-playing C-shaped maple neck
Eye-catching chrome hardware
Expect tonal flexibility and supreme playability from the Fender Mustang Bass PJ!

This bass will age and wear just like its vintage counterparts. Add this to the ultra-comfortable offset alder body, maple neck with rosewood fretboard, and pair of vintage-style single-coil alnico pickups, and you're ready to lay down the low end at any gig.

Classic Jazz Bass design
Leo Fender brought us the first Jazz Bass in 1960, and its offset-waist body, balanced design, and smooth-playing, narrow neck continue to give today's Classic Series version excellent playability and a distinctive look. Players from all genres have embraced this bass, and you can see it on stages everywhere and hear it in countless recordings. As with so many of Fender's original designs, the man got the essence of the Jazz Bass right the first time, and the new Fender Classic Series '60s Jazz Bass Lacquer bears that out.

Original neck shape with rosewood fretboard offers authentic feel

Ibanez delivers tons of sustain and plenty of low end.

It's difficult to imagine increasing the amount of sustain the Ibanez BTB has to offer, but with the added mass and stability afforded by this unique single cutaway reworking, the BTB Terra Firma gives you just that. Capitalizing on the shortened distance from the body to headstock, string vibration is optimized beyond anything Ibanez has ever achieved before.

Upper Horn
This extended Upper Horn creates constant contact with the Maple/Bubinga neck from the 12th to the 24th fret, providing maximum stability and increased sustain.

Contoured Neck Scoop
The back of the neck is sculpted for comfort and easy access to the very highest notes on the C string. The smooth, graceful contour allows the palm of the left hand to move quickly and easily as it transitions up the neck, into the underside of the bass's Ash body.

5pc BTB-6 Maple/Bubinga 35" Scale Thru-Neck
The Maple/Bubinga combination creates one of the strongest Thru-Necks available. The density of the Bubinga, combined with the strength of the Maple, increases stability and sustain through the entire body of the bass. The 35" scale provides a bit more tension for the low B and improves definition in the lower range.

Mono-Rail II bridge
The Mono-Rail bridge delivers the ultimate in string-to-string isolation, allowing each string to vibrate optimally without being affected by the others. The Terra Firma's string spacing is 17mm, offering more freedom on the fretboard and easy access for finger picking and slapping.

Bartolini BH1-6 Pickups
Balancing clarity with warmth is the hallmark of the Bartolini BH1-6 pickup. Coils with lower resonant frequency provide tighter bottom end and a fuller midrange. The dual-coil style configuration maximizes articulation and a long blade pole piece widens the magnetic field, providing balanced string-to-string pickup response.

EBQ-IIIS 3-Band EQ With Mid Frequency Switch
The active 3-band EQ features fully independent bass, treble and mid controls with a wide boost/cut range. The preamp system is equipped with a mid-frequency select switch, enabling you to instantly select 250Hz or 600Hz, the heart of the mid zone, for a more dynamic and ideal tone.

Boulder Creek Guitars was born from an idea that was developed over 15 years ago by Mike Shellhammer. Mike, having spent his life in the music industry as a musician, store owner and product developer felt that there was a better way to brace a guitar than what was considered standard. Mike’s idea was based on the theory that, if he was able to develop a suspended bracing system that would support the string tension of an acoustic instrument while leaving the soundboard intact, and moving the sound hole to the side of the guitar, it should sound better and create better tone and sustain. This idea was the birth of Boulder Creek Guitars. Through trial and error- testing of prototypes and materials, the idea and the realization came together. Aluminum rods became the key component, as they provided the needed strength. “The aluminum rods transmit the strings vibration and energy throughout the body of the instrument creating a tone balance and sustain that have made Boulder Creek Acoustic instruments the award winning instruments that they are today” said Shellhammer. The benefit to the musician is that Boulder Creek has developed an incredible sounding instrument that does not experience the same feedback issues associated with the “standard” acoustic guitar. Players and sound engineers alike rave about Boulder Creek instruments on stage because they are trouble free and do what they are supposed to do! Add to that a completely cool and different look, and you have an instrument that grabs the attention of any audience. Boulder Creek’s patented SBS bracing system has re-written the books on acoustic instruments. The unique style, affordability and performance have taken a very young company to the forefront of the guitar world. Come in and see what has developed from the idea that Mike Shellhammer brought to life. Come see what you’ve been missing!
